This document is a guide for the verification process for domains on SSL certificates that have the type of validation with Domain Validation (DV).

For an SSL Certificate with domain validation (DV) type, there are 2 steps required to obtain an SSL Certificate with DV type validation.

1. Domain ownership confirmation email (Approver Email)

Email approver is one of the verification processes that might make you confused when confirming via email the domain you registered. After making a purchase and before carrying out the Generate Certificate (submission process for CSR) please ensure that the email you will register in Administrative Contact Details is an email that can receive domain approval emails.

How do you know which emails can receive domain approval emails?

Please note that during each domain verification process, the SSL certificate authority will look at the contact details contained in your domain registrar (WHOIS Lookup). So an approval email for the domain will be sent to the email listed at your domain registrar.

To check your domain registrar, please click the URL http://whois.com/whois/(Your Domain Name).

Are there any other recommendations besides updating the contact details of the domain registrar?

By default, the email address is like : admin@administrator@webmaster@postmaster@ and hostmaster@ you can choose when generating the certificate. Even though you have registered your email address in the Administrative Contact Details on your SSL Certificate, you can also choose email approval as we mentioned above. However, please ensure that the email has actually been registered on your mail server to ensure that you can receive email approval from the Certificate Authority.

Is there any other way besides using email approval?

If you don’t have access to the domain or your administrator email, you can still approve the domain via this method  File Auth or domain authentication using File Hash. Please click Here.

IMPORTANT:
If you don’t see an email for domain approval, Please check the SPAM folder in your email.

2. Security Checking

When a booking has been made and your booking status may be marked as REJECTED, this is because your order does not comply with the security requirements of the Certificate Authority. The Certificate Authority will take 24 hours to restore/change the status to ACTIVE back to the issue of security for your order.

It is possible that your certificate is marked as REJECTED, The Certificate Authority needs to re-verify by calling you, or the Certificate Authority needs to review your website.

How to ensure that the SSL Certificate avoids REJECTED status?

To avoid the possibility of your SSL Certificate order status being rejected or REJECTED, make sure that:

In the Organization Name field when you generate CSR, make sure you enter correct and complete information according to the name of your organization or company. If you are an individual, make sure you enter your business name. Please do not include information that could be suspected in your Organization Name (considered to be prone to fraud).

Avoid using abbreviations such as (IT, IBM, etc.).

Make sure that the information for contact details is the name of the person who can be contacted. Do not use the department name as contact information on your Certificate. For example, the information in Administrative Contact is filled with First Name: IT Dept. and Last Name: Jakarta.

If you are a consultant acting on behalf of a company or financial institution such as a bank, we recommend that you choose an SSL Certificate with the Organization Validation (OV) Validation Type.

However, if you still want to use an SSL Certificate with Domain validation on behalf of another party or person, the Certificate Authority may require you to carry out verification such as reviewing the website according to the domain you registered. It will usually take between 24-48 Hours for your SSL Certificate to be issued.

NOTES :

Security check cases are very rare, but if you experience a case like the information above, please follow the instructions mentioned.
